That’s a wrap on Groovin the Moo 2019! This year was so incredible – filled with unforgettable moments, amazing friendships…
Maitland, your Commoonity Program is here!
At the heart of Groovin the Moo’s (GTM) festival philosophy is the desire to showcase and support communities and regions that are often those less travelled. GTM’s Community Program has been developing organically each year and we’re thrilled to announce what we’ve got in store for Maitland in 2019.
GTM x HEAPS GAY
The legends at HEAPS GAY started a few years ago as a series of parties for LGBTQI+ kids and their friends and has since become a regular party starter in the Sydney scene for anyone who wants to have fun and support good causes. They’ll bring the Milk Bar back to Maitland again to offer some incredibly good vibes and party times, with Heaps Gay DJ’s and local favourites DJ Amos and DJ Danny spinning the tunes.
Local Artist Showcases
Hannah Dunn is a young illustration and collage artist who is keenly involved in her local music and arts community in Newcastle, NSW. Her involvement in the art team for the local music label, No-Fi Collective, has engaged her passions for live music and art in creating album covers, merchandise and poster designs for local bands and events. Her recognisable painting style has been exhibited in her solo exhibition, “Pas Romantique” at Watt Space Gallery in August 2017, with more collage and painting projects to be launched further into 2019.
Step through the white picket fence, enter Groovin Wonderland and meet the Queen of Hearts, then try your hand at croquet. The creative collective from Hyve Mynd will be running games throughout the day. For a gold coin donation you can play to your hearts content, and all proceeds will be going back to Maitland Football For All.
Returning in 2019, GTM’s Powder Pen will keep you looking festival fresh! For a small donation, you can get a quick hair and make-up “zjoosh” thanks to Wak the Salon. A portion of proceeds from the Powder Pen will go to their charity of choice, CARE, a global charity that is dedicated to ending poverty and put women and girls in the centre of their program development.

The club will be filling hungry tummies with a classic sausage sizzle pre, during and post event. They will be located in Maitland Park so make sure to grab a snag on your way in and out!
