POWDER PEN

CINDY RUE

Returning in 2019, GTM’s Powder Pen will keep you looking festival fresh! For a small donation, you can get a quick hair and make-up “zjoosh” thanks to Cindy Rue. A portion of proceeds from the Powder Pen will go back to the charity of their choice, ACT Rescue and Foster who rescue dogs from euthanasia and foster them in temporary homes until they find their fur-ever home.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

GTM will be supporting the annual Battle of the Bands competition at Black Mountain School where local Canberra bands come on board and perform for the students. Our very own event assistant, Tamara, will be the judge and the winning band will win tickets to GTM. Students will also take part in the work experience program, handing out our festival essentials guides at the front gate.

HEAPS GAY

The legends at HEAPS GAY started a few years ago as a series of parties for LGBTIQ+ kids and their friends and has since become a regular party starter in the Sydney scene for anyone who wants to have fun and support good causes. They’ll bring the Milk Bar back to Canberra again to offer some incredibly good vibes and party times, with HEAPS GAY DJ’s and local favourite Squeef spinning the tunes.

HEAPS GAY DECOR CREW

Thunderbolts are a crew of young people who have identified as being LGBTQI+ and have felt disengaged from their local community. They will be working under the creative direction of Kat Dopper (founder of HEAPS GAY) and Tamsin Kemp (local artist and teacher) to create props and decorate the Milk Bar.

WORK EXPERIENCE WITH GIRLS ROCK!

GTM is very excited to have Girls Rock! Canberra participants take part in the work experience program this year. Girls Rock! is a national network of girls rock camps designed to empower girls, trans and non-binary youth (ages 10-17 years). Through a combined love for music, girls are taught leadership skills and provided with pathways towards further education in the music and creative industries.

UC HOCKEY CLUB

The University of Canberra Hockey Club (UCHC) fields 13 teams in the Hockey ACT outdoor competition with seven women’s teams, five men’s teams and one mixed team so there is a place in the club for every ability. Most importantly, UCHC is a friendly and social and is always willing to welcome new members! They will be helping out the GTM event team by running the car park and also serving up bangers (the BBQ kind) inside the event. Make sure to pop over and grab a sausage sanga as all proceeds go directly back into supporting the club.

LOCAL ARTIST SHOWCASE

Sophie

GTM is proud to showcase emerging local up and coming artists such as Sophie who will be exhibiting her cheeky feminist art at the Canberra show.

Musonga Mbogo

Musonga Mbogo ifirst approached GTM in 2015 and has been involved at a bigger and better capacity each year. Visually, he looks to emulate the emotions which are often associated with listening to music and at just 20 years of age, he’s proving to be an artist to watch.
