PNAU JOINS THE GTM LINE UP!

If you thought we were done with surprises, think again! We’re STOKED to announce that we’ve added PNAU to the GTM 2017 line up!

The long and successful creative force of Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Sam Littlemore returned to their PNAU roots in 2016, dropping their first single in over fours years “Chameleon” (#11 in triple j’s Hottest 100). Whatta TUUUUUNE. Check out the stunning video clip above.

The acclaimed electronic act, who previously delivered you tunes such as “Embrace,” “Baby” and “Solid Ground”, have been hard at work and the boys show no signs of slowing down this year, hinting at a new album. If “Chameleon” is anything to go by, we’re in for an absolute TREAT!

Get ready for PNAU to take you on a spiritual journey as they make their GTM debut in 2017!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY FROM THE SMITH STREET BAND!

It’s Valentine’s Day and what better gift to receive than one from The Smith Street Band!

If you’re a fan of Melbourne foursome, you may have received a cute Valentine’s Day Birthday card in the post containing this message:

“Hello!

Happy Birthday’s for February 14th!

Lots of love,

 The Smith Street Band”

Wondering what that was all about?

It was all alluding to today’s trio of surprises! The boys announced their new album More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me alongside a little gift in the form of lead single “Birthdays” and it’s accompanying video.

“Birthdays”, which is their follow up to previous single “Death To The Lads” (#21 on triple j’s Hottest 100), finds poetic front man Wil Wagner “being positive for once”.

“There’s no despair or hopelessness in this one, he’s wearing the positivity on his sleeve. It’s a song about love and growing up – a constant theme in Wil’s songwriting” says drummer Chris Cowburn (via triple j).

It’s an empowering and joyful tune that follows Wil’s chance encounter with a stranger on a pier in Hobart. Cowburn says to “expect more of the same” from their signature heartfelt punk sound along with some new tweaks on their forthcoming album.

Accompanying the new tune is a quirky but charming music video that follows the adventures of a young girl and her robot best friend! It’s adorable and we love it. You should watch the full video above, STAT.

The Melbourne band’s fourth studio outing was recorded in California and will be released on April 7th under their own label, Pool House Records. It’s available for pre-order now.

You can catch The Smith Street lads belting out the sounds of their new album at GTM 2017!

MILKY CHANCE ARE BACK WITH NEW SONG “EGO”

After releasing their hit single “Cocoonin November last year (#12 in triple j’s Hottest 100) and “Doing Good” earlier this year, Milky Chance have today released “Ego”, another taste of their forthcoming album “Blossom”.

The latest offering from the German two-piece does not differ from their thoughtful and catchy lyrics, it’s a song about distance that is impossible to overcome. In classic Milky Chance form, the track is an earworm of the best kind.

Listen to the bouncy new single now:

Blossom will be released on March 17, 2017 (giving you enough time to learn the lyrics for Groovin the Moo!) and is available for pre-order now. However, if you’re like us and just can’t get enough of them, the duo have released an interactive website where you can delve into the making of Milky Chance, how they make music and what’s behind their new album. Check it out!

P.S. It’s Friday, so lets flashback to this clip of the duo performing Taylor Swifts “Shake It Off” for triple j’s Like A Version back in 2005. It’s still so good!

K.FLAY DROPS NEW SINGLE “BLACK WAVE”

With just over three months until genre defying hip-hop legend K.Flay hits Australian shores for GTM 2017, she’s unveiled a dark new track “Black Wave”.

K.Flay describes the origins of Black Wave as facing something immense and menacing and choosing not to cower, but to rise up.” It’s an up beat, fire-fuelled banger from the L.A. based artist.

Alongside her latest track, she’s announced her second full-length album Every Where is Some Where to be released on April 7th. In addition, she gives us an insight into the album’s title; in writing this album, I thought a lot about the places that shape us, and how, in turn, we shape those places in our minds.” You can read K.Flay’s full statement here.

Don’t miss K.Flay at Groovin the Moo 2017! Tickets on sale NOW!!

GET TO KNOW: LOYLE CARNER

Before GTM 2017 hits the road, it’s time to get to know Loyle Carner.

Benjamin Coyle-Larner, better known as Loyle Carner, is a 21-year-old British MC based out of South London. He calls having dyslexia and mispronouncing his surname, á la Loyle Carner a ‘happy accident’, but what’s no accident is the cut through effect this emerging emcee is having on the UK scene right now. FYI: Nas, Joey Badass and Tom Misch are just a few artists Carner has toured with and supported in his short time on the scene.

‘Old school but honest’ are his words to live by and this transcends into his sincere and raw breakthrough 2014 EP A Little Late. He was placed on numerous ‘Ones To Watch’ lists for 2016 and it’s not surprising, given his honest and poetic approach to lyricism.

“A lot of my favourite records are by artists such as Mos Def, who have shown that it’s OK to open up. To be honest, there was never really a moment where I wanted to write any other way.” Loyle Carner has defined himself through overcoming challenging circumstances and this resonates through all aspects of his music.

He’s no stranger to the rap game, stringing sentences on the fly since the tender age of 10. Growing up feeling misunderstood, to dealing with dyslexia and ADHD, Carner struggled to channel his hyperactive energy productively until he found a love for cooking, poetry and music.

“Being dyslexic, I struggled with writing critically, but I could always write creatively. With creative writing, you’re not judged as much on spelling or form or structure; any mistakes almost add to the poem. It was kind of my little place where I could get away and colour outside the lines.”

Carner can definitely whip up a feast! It’s his outlet away from music, bringing him clarity, focus and occupying his mind. He’s even teamed up with GOMA, starting up a cooking school for kids with ADHD to provide the same kind of kinetic experience to others as it brings to him.

I think that’s what is important: not doing one thing until it’s done and then doing something else, I think that’s where some people fall short. I think it’s where I’ve fallen short before. Doing loads of things at the same time is how you keep things interesting and as soon as one thing gets a bit long, you leave it for a sec and go do something else, come back to it when it feels fresh again.”

Loyle Carner released his debut album Yesterday’s Gone at the beginning of 2017 and it highlights an honest perspective on “what it’s like to be 20 in London; the depressors, the positives, the negatives.” It is a work of melancholic beauty and each track sets a scene, taking you on a musical journey through a diverse range of genres beginning with gospel anthem “Isle of Arran” and immediately mellowing it out in the next track “Mean it in the Morning.” His creativity is incredibly refreshing and produces a relatable, slice of life through typical feelings we feel at some stages throughout our lives.

Loyle Carner is a MUST SEE at Groovin the Moo 2017!

GTM’s South Australian show moooves to a new venue!

GTM are so excited to be heading back to stunning South Australia in 2017 for the 4th year running, however, this year there are a few changes!

Firstly, as you may have already noticed, we are thrilled to be kicking off the 2017 tour in South Australia on the new date of Friday 28th April! This new date not only means our SA crew will be getting an extra special GTM long weekend, it also allows the festival to avoid artist schedule clashes with other international festivals, resulting in a diverse and exciting line up for all GTM events. The GTM team is creating a bunch of parties to make the most of the special long weekend – so stay tuned to our socials for more info on this to come!

Secondly, we’re stoked to announce we’re moooving to a new location – say hello to our new home of Adelaide Showground, Wayville! The new location is super accessible by public and private transport (the showground has its very own train station), giving even more South Australians the opportunity to attend GTM.

Having established solid relationships with the Adelaide Hills and Oakbank communities, GTM will continue to support the local businesses and residents, welcoming back food and beverage providers including Udder Delights and Pirate Life, to name a few. GTM will also welcome new partners and food and beverage providers from all over the state. To ensure the new home of GTM is as easy as possible to get to for those loyal customers local to the Adelaide Hills area, the GTM team will be offering a free return shuttle bus service to the Adelaide Showground. Stay tuned for more info on this one.

Already purchased your ticket in the Christmas pre-sale?

For those keen GTMers who purchased tickets to Oakbank in the Christmas pre-sale, don’t stress! Your tickets will be reissued from moshtix with the new venue details in early February.

Want to start the festivities early?
